Butyl rubbed tape

The butyl rubber tape serves to bond polyethylene membranes PENEFOL® and LITHOPLAST®. It is a double-sided tape which is 0.8 mm thick.

The PENEFOL® waterproofing membrane is simply joined with a double-sided adhesive butyl rubber band. This method is suitable if no pulling or peeling off force is applied on the joint, and the watertightness of the joint is not required.

Use this butyl rubber tape to connect studded membrane: LITHOPLAST® INSTAL, LITHOPLAST® SANA, LITHOPLAST® PERFOR, LITHOPLAST® DREN.

How to use the butyl rubber tape:

  1. Affix the tape to the membrane after removing one protection layer in distance at least 10mm from the edge of a glued strip. In case of a studded membrane the adhesive tape should be placed between the first and the second line of studs.
  2. Then remove the second protection layer and attach the connected membrane strip with 50mm overlap.
  3. Press the joint using a roller.
  4. A joint of butyl rubber tape reaches its highest strength after 24 hours.

The butyl rubber tape serves to bond the PENEFOL® membrane and the studded membrane LITHOPLAST® provided that no pulling or peeling off force is applied on the joint, and the watertightness of the joint is not required. Therefore, butyl rubber tape is used, for example, for laying:

  • separating layers of floor structures,
  • separating layers of roof structures,
  • and the laying of studded membranes.
